How to Watch Maple Leafs Games in 2026-27: Every Channel & What It Costs

October 9, 2026 · officiel

Fans getting ready to watch Maple Leafs games on a big TV

Ten days in, and the Leafs are already giving us the usual mix of hope and heartburn. They lost to Montréal on opening night, lost the first Battle of Ontario at home, then picked up wins against the Islanders and Nashville. Last night in Vegas they dropped a shootout. That’s 2-2-1, and it’s only October 9.

The bigger headache, honestly, has nothing to do with the standings. It’s figuring out where to watch Maple Leafs games this year. The TV deals changed over the summer, and plenty of fans found that out the hard way on September 29, flipping channels five minutes before puck drop.

So here’s the plain version: where every Leafs game airs, what it costs, and the setup we’d pick if we were starting from zero today.

The Short Answer

To watch Maple Leafs games in Ontario this season, you need to know which night the game is on:

When the game isWhere it airsHow to stream it
Saturday nightSportsnet (national)Sportsnet+ or your TV provider’s app
Monday night (national)Sportsnet+ onlySportsnet+
Wednesday night (national)Prime VideoPrime Video app
Most other nightsTSN4 or Sportsnet Ontario (regional)TSN+ or Sportsnet+, or your TV provider

There’s no free option anymore. CBC is out of the NHL business, so every game needs some kind of paid subscription. If you want the full story on why, we covered it in Hockey Night in Canada 2026: 7 Big Changes.

How the Season Has Gone So Far

Quick catch-up, in case you missed a few:

DateGameResult
Tue, Sept 29Canadiens at LeafsLost 3-2
Wed, Sept 30Islanders at LeafsWon 2-1
Sat, Oct 3Senators at LeafsLost 3-2
Tue, Oct 6Predators at LeafsWon 5-4 (OT)
Thu, Oct 8Leafs at Golden KnightsLost in a shootout

Opening night stung. William Nylander scored 48 seconds in and added a second later, and Sergei Bobrovsky looked solid in his first game in a Leafs sweater, but Montréal still found the winner late in the third.

The Ottawa game was worse in a way, because it was the Senators’ season opener and they spoiled it in our building. Auston Matthews and Kirill Marchenko scored, but Stephen Halliday’s third-period goal won it for Ottawa.

Upcoming Leafs Games You’ll Want to Catch

October gets busy. If you want to watch Maple Leafs games live this month, here’s what’s next:

DateGameHeads-up

Thu, Oct 15Sabres at LeafsHome game

Mon, Oct 26Leafs at FlamesMonday, western time zone
Wed, Oct 28Leafs at KrakenLate one, roughly 10 p.m. in Toronto

After that, the Leafs come home for a six-game homestand from November 3 to 14, including the Canadiens on Saturday, November 7. The next Battle of Ontario isn’t until January 20 in Ottawa.

Game times and channels can move around, so check the Leafs schedule on NHL.com on game day. The full list of key dates for both Ontario teams is in our NHL in Ontario 2026-27 guide.

Where to Watch Maple Leafs Games, Channel by Channel

Sportsnet and Sportsnet+

Sportsnet still has the biggest share of Leafs games. Saturday nights are now called Saturday Night Hockey instead of Hockey Night in Canada, and Ron MacLean is still hosting.

The catch is Monday. National Monday games are streaming-only on Sportsnet+ this year. If you get Sportsnet through cable, you’ll need to pay extra to see them. That one caught a lot of people off guard.

Sportsnet+ Standard went up to about $34.99 a month (or about $269.99 a year) on September 22.

TSN4

TSN4 carries a big chunk of the regional Leafs games in the Toronto area. Last season TSN had 26 of the 40 regional games, and Sportsnet Ontario had the other 14. This season’s split hasn’t been published yet, so expect a similar mix.

You can get TSN through a TV package, or stream it with TSN+ for about $24.99 a month.

Prime Video

This is the new one. Prime Video has exclusive national Wednesday games across Canada, and about six of them are Leafs games. Nothing else Prime offers in hockey matters to Leafs fans, but those six games aren’t anywhere else.

The good news is that it’s included with Amazon Prime (about $9.99 a month or $99 a year). Plenty of people already have it and don’t realise.

What It Costs to Watch Maple Leafs Games

Let’s be honest about the number, because nobody else seems to want to say it out loud. If you want to watch Maple Leafs games without cable, you’re looking at roughly this for every game:

ServiceAbout per month
Sportsnet+ Standard$34.99
TSN+$24.99
Amazon Prime$9.99
Totalabout $70 a month

On annual plans it works out to somewhere around $500 to $600 for the season. That’s not cheap. But it’s still less than a lot of full cable packages, and you can cancel in the summer. And if that total still feels way too high for your budget, have a look at our Ontario IPTV guide, where we compare other options that can bring the monthly cost down.

Prices change, so check each service before you sign up.

The Best Way to Watch Maple Leafs Games (Our Setup)

If we were starting from zero today, this is how we’d watch Maple Leafs games:

  1. Get Sportsnet+ first. It covers the most games, including Saturdays and those annoying Monday ones.
  2. Check if you already have Prime. If you do, that’s six Wednesday games sorted for free.
  3. Add TSN+ only if you care about every single game. If you can live with missing some regional games, you could skip it and save about $300 a year.
  4. Put it all on one decent streaming device. A Fire TV Stick 4K Max, a Google TV box or an Apple TV will all run every one of these apps.
  5. Plug in an ethernet cable if you can. Wi-Fi is fine for Netflix. It’s a lot less fine during a power play in the third period.

Tips to Watch Maple Leafs Games Without the Frustration

Streams run behind live TV. Usually 20 to 60 seconds. If your buddy texts “WHAT A GOAL” and you’re still watching a faceoff, that’s why. Turn off score notifications during games.

The western trip means late nights. The Seattle game on October 28 starts around 10 p.m. in Toronto. Plan accordingly, or plan to be tired at work.

Blackouts still exist. If you’re outside the Leafs’ broadcast region in Canada, regional games won’t show up on TSN+ or Sportsnet+ Standard. That’s when people look at Sportsnet+ Premium or NHL Centre Ice instead.

Restart your streaming stick now and then. Sticks that have been on for a week get sluggish. A quick restart before a big game can stop a lot of buffering.

Stick with licensed services. They’re more stable on busy Saturday nights, and they won’t vanish halfway through the season. We explain where the line is in Is IPTV Legal in Canada in 2026?.

FAQ

What channel are the Maple Leafs on tonight?

Can I watch Maple Leafs games for free?

Not anymore. CBC no longer carries NHL games, so every Leafs game needs a paid service.

About six this season, all on Wednesday nights. They’re exclusive to Prime Video in Canada.

How much does it cost to watch Maple Leafs games?

Roughly $70 a month if you combine Sportsnet+, TSN+ and Amazon Prime, or around $500 to $600 a season on annual plans.

What’s the best device to watch Maple Leafs games?

Any recent Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Google TV or Apple TV will work. Use an ethernet connection if you can for smoother streams.

When do the Leafs play Ottawa again?

The next Battle of Ontario is Wednesday, January 20, in Ottawa, then February 13 in Ottawa and March 27 in Toronto.

One Last Thing

It’s a long season. Eighty-four games, a six-game homestand in November, a California trip over the holidays, and almost certainly at least one stretch where we all swear we’re done with this team. We won’t be.

Get your setup sorted now, while it’s still early. Then you can watch Maple Leafs games all winter and you won’t spend the next six months hunting for the right app at 7:05 p.m.

Go Leafs Go.
